What's on the document.
A certificate of analysis is only worth asking for if you know what to look at. Six fields carry the whole document — and the first one is the one most people skip.

Compound and analysis date
Ties the document to the product in your hand and to the date it was analysed.
Date of analysis
When the test was run — not when the batch was made, and not when the page was last edited.

HPLC-MS. High-performance liquid chromatography to separate, mass spectrometry to identify.
Identity confirmation
The observed mass against the expected mass for that compound. This is the part that says it is what it says it is.
Measured purity
Taken from the chromatogram, as a percentage. This is the figure we publish, unrounded and unflattered.
Who issued it
The laboratory that ran the analysis, and their sign-off. Currently the manufacturer's own QC — see below.
